Do any of these sound like you?

You're nervous about lack of sleep after baby arrives

You feel like you just don’t know what you don’t know

You're wondering what your daily routine with a newborn will look like

Imagine how it would feel to...

  • Understand how newborns sleep and how to set yourself up for success with your newborn’s sleep

  • Simply snuggle with your baby after they are born, with the stress of admin tasks behind you

  • Have resources to help you during the first months home with baby

Our new method will help you get there

There are four components of preparing to have a baby. We call these components the LEAP Method

Learning is the first area that we touch on, because you have to know the basics about how to care for a newborn, but this is where a lot of classes end. Our course not only educates you about newborn care, but also how to take care of yourself after giving birth. While learning is so important and should not be skipped, it isn’t the only component of getting ready to have a baby.

Another crucial component, that is typically undervalued, is emotional awareness. Giving birth causes a hormonal surge in a mother’s body, which physiologically leads to mood swings. Not to mention, the other emotional aspects of welcoming a new baby: the birth itself, lack of sleep and a major life change. Being aware of these emotional ups and downs can ease the intensity of the experience in the moment and it can normalize what is happening in both parents. The emotional awareness we talk about in the course also gives new parents insight into signs and symptoms of perinatal mood disorders and resources for where to turn and what to do, should they arise.

Administrative tasks is the third, and most commonly overlooked component of having a baby. Calling insurance companies, making appointments and doing research just aren’t very glamorous topics to talk about, and so they aren’t highlighted on social media or even in a lot of birth or newborn classes. Yet, these tasks take time and effort to complete and are really important to do so and they can be really costly if overlooked. We we will remind you about the admin tasks that need to get done before and after baby arrives and we have even created cheat sheets to help you make sure you check everything off your list.

The last component of preparing for baby’s arrival is products. This is an area that gets a ton of attention, even too much, with the emphasis of getting all the gear and creating a baby registry. Of course every parent wants the best for their baby, but babies don’t really need all that much gear in their first months of life. We will go over the gear that you truly need, what to pack in your hospital bag and we provide resources to help you find the products that meet your family’s need and budget. Also, not all products are physical products! There are digital products, like baby apps, that are wonderful resources that we will tell you all about in addition to some service products by providers that can be wonderful additions to your village!

The Confident New Parent Course

Everything you need to know before baby arrives

Hi there!

We’re “the Amandas” and we love helping parents and families. We make TikTok videos, podcasts and other resources to help new parents ease into parenthood. We decided to put our passion and knowledge together to create an online course help parents prepare for the arrival of their newborn.

Amanda Israel is a mom of 3, a pediatric sleep consultant and postpartum doula.

Amanda Gorman is a mom of 2, a certified Birthing From Within childbirth educator and an advocate for parent mental health.

Here’s what you’ll learn:

  • Baby's First Days & Weeks at Home

Most new parents don’t realize all the decisions you’ll need to make on baby’s first day of life…let alone first 30. We will walk you through all the decisions you will need to make before baby is born, on their birthday and in their first days and weeks at home.

  • Parent's First Few Days & Weeks at Home

We will tell you all the things that no one talks about recovering from childbirth. We will give you a heads up on how to survive on little sleep, while taking great care of yourself and your newborn.

  • Newborn Baby Sleep

You’re not going to get great sleep after baby is born, we won’t sugarcoat it. However, we will inform you about the basics of newborn sleep, safe sleep guidelines and how you can get enough sleep in the first month with baby. Then we will teach you how to set yourself up for great sleep in the near future by optimizing baby’s sleep environment and nap schedule.

  • Perinatal Mental Health

We’re going to talk to you about the thing that no one wants to talk about: postpartum depression…and other perinatal mental health issues. We will explain the difference between Baby Blues and more serious postpartum mood disorders, give an overview of treatment options, resources and share signs for you and your partner to look out for. Many new parents are really afraid of getting PPD, but it's not the end of the world and it's a temporary mental health struggle that you can absolutely get through.

  • Feeding Baby

You want to make sure your baby is fed enough and is growing well. We have the same hope for you and will go over all the options from boob to bottle. We will share best practices for breastfeeding, formula feeding, pumping and storing milk.

  • Taking Care of Yourself and Baby: Weeks 6-12

You’ll start to hit your stride with baby after about 6 weeks and we will prepare you for what comes next in the second-half of the newborn phase. In this module we will go over what your healing process will be like, preparing to go back to work, what to expect from your 6 week check up and pelvic floor health information.

Testimonials

Really great course

by Lisa, new mom

Thanks to both of you for this course - it was really great. Also just wanted to mention that the mental health module was really helpful, esp because my husband watched it with me and I think it shifted his attitude a lot re: making sure he is ready to be as supportive as possible (don't get me wrong, he's already very supportive! I think he just hadn't really thought in super concrete terms about what PPD looks like, and what his role will be if we end up in that situation).

Felt more comfortable about becoming parents

by Ashley, New Mom

The general “unknown” that comes along with being a first time mother was a huge concern of mine. Amanda explained the process from beginning to end in a way that was easy to understand. We had all our questions answered and felt more comfortable and optimistic about becoming parents.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • When should I sign up?

This course is intended for parents who are expecting a baby, ideally while in their 2nd or 3rd trimester. But it's never too soon to get prepared!

  • How do I know if it's right for me?

The most ideal participant in our course is someone who is pregnant with their first baby (and/or their partner, too!) If you are someone who wants to be confident and organized before baby arrives, this is the course for YOU!

  • I already have other children. Should I still sign up?

We think that this class will bring value to everyone who is pregnant - even people with prior children. We all forget things and need a refresher time to time. However, if you are beyond the postpartum knowledge and are seeking support for sleep or potty training, please visit www.lullabymagic.com!

  • Is this a childbirth class?

No, this is not a childbirth class. This class is intended to prepare parents for what life will be like once baby arrives. The course covers things you can expect from baby in the first few months after birth, as well as what you can expect to need and know as a new parent, too. Postpartum isn't only about baby; it's about the mom, and the family as a whole.

  • How long will this course take me to complete?

This is a self-guided online program with 3+ hours of information between video, audio and downloadables. We encourage you to go at whatever pace feels right for you. That may mean completing it all in a short period of time, or spreading it out with one module per week! Some people even like to hop around in the course to the topics they feel are most relevant or important to their journey.
